I Can't Sign In
Most sign-in trouble is a forgotten password, and Hamtrax can email you a link to set a new one. This page covers that, plus the one case where the link itself misbehaves.
Resetting your password
- Open the sign-in screen and tap Forgot password? — it's on the first screen everywhere: under the password box on the web and Android, under the email box on iPhone. If you already tried signing in and got a red message, the same Forgot password? link appears right inside that message — already filled in with the email you typed.
- Check the email address, then tap Send Reset Link. You'll see Password reset email sent! Check your inbox.
- Open the email from social@hamtrax.com, subject Reset your Hamtrax password, and tap Reset your password. The link opens hamtrax.com — if it points anywhere else, it did not come from us.
- Choose your new password, confirm it, and tap Save new password. Hamtrax signs you straight in — there is nothing else to do.
Hamtrax always says the email was sent, even for an address that has no account. That's deliberate — it keeps anyone from using the reset form to discover which email addresses are registered. If nothing arrives, check your spam folder, then confirm you're using the address you actually signed up with.
There's a short wait — about 30 seconds — between reset emails for the same address. If you tap Send Reset Link again too quickly, Hamtrax tells you how long to wait.
The link opens the Hamtrax app and nothing happens
This affects iPhones running an older build of Hamtrax. The reset link and the app's secure sign-in link live at the same web address, and older builds claimed both — so tapping Reset your password opened the app, which had no reset screen to show you. No error, no page, nothing.
Fixed as of the current release, and newer reset emails point at hamtrax.com rather than the shared Firebase path, so the app has nothing to intercept. If you have an older email sitting in your inbox:
- Request a fresh reset email. New links go to hamtrax.com and open in your browser regardless of which app version you have. This is the quickest fix.
- Or bypass it once: press and hold the link in the email and choose Open in Safari.
- Or open the email on a computer and reset your password there. The new password works everywhere.
iPhones remember which links belong to an app for a while after installing or updating it. If a reset link still opens the app right after you update, request a new reset email — the fresh link picks up the corrected behavior.
Other things that block sign-in
- "Invalid email or password." Hamtrax deliberately doesn't say which one was wrong, so nobody can use the sign-in form to find out whether an address has an account. Check for typos, then reset your password.
- "Too many attempts. Please try again later." Several failed attempts in a row triggers a cooldown. Wait a few minutes, or reset your password rather than guessing again.
- "This account has been disabled." Contact Hamtrax support through Feedback in the sidebar.
- You signed up with Google. Your account has no Hamtrax password to reset. On the web and Android, use the Google button. On iPhone, enter the same email — Hamtrax emails you a secure one-tap sign-in link instead of asking for a password.
- No password reset needed, just changing it? If you can already sign in, use Settings → Account → Security — see Settings and Preferences.
