Band Plan
The Band Plan tool gives you a quick, visual reference for frequency allocations across the amateur radio bands. Whether you are tuning around looking for activity or planning an activation, the band plan shows you exactly which frequencies are designated for which modes.
Opening the Band Plan
- Open Band Plan from the sidebar or tools menu.
Choosing Your Band Plan
A card at the top of the tool shows the band plan the chart uses — the one saved in your Settings. For the FCC plan, the card leads with your license class above the plan's name (for example, General over FCC – United States). The other plans have no license classes, so their card shows just the plan's name. Hamtrax has a plan for each of these regulatory agencies:
| Agency | Region |
|---|---|
| FCC -- United States | IARU Region 2 |
| ISED / RAC -- Canada | IARU Region 2 |
| IARU Region 1 -- Europe & Africa | IARU Region 1 |
| ACMA -- Australia | IARU Region 3 |
To change your plan or license class, tap the card. Band Plan minimizes and Settings → Preferences opens at Station → Band plan, the only place either is changed. Select the row beneath the Band plan heading to choose them; choices save automatically, and Done closes the editor. See Band Plan settings for the full behavior. Open Band Plan again to see the chart for your new choice.
Filtering by License Class
For the FCC plan, the chart shows only the segments your license class -- Amateur Extra, General, or Technician -- authorizes you to use.
If your account has a callsign, Hamtrax detects your agency and license class from its lookup and saves them for you. Without a callsign on file, the card reads Amateur Extra over FCC – United States until you choose otherwise in Settings.
Navigating Bands
Use the Band dropdown, just below the card, to jump between bands. The tool covers HF (160m through 10m), VHF (6m, 2m), and UHF (70cm). On a phone, each mode appears with its start and end frequency in MHz, plus a slim color-coded bar showing where that segment sits in the band. On wider screens, a chart lays the segments out across the band with the start and end frequencies beside each one.

Tap About this band plan, at the bottom of the tool, to see the source document and regulatory details for the selected plan.
